Holiday Inn Reservations

More than one CHSH guest was told by reservations that the hotel is booked and the block of rooms is full. I called Diane Fuentes, the sales rep at the Holiday Inn, and she said the hotel is nowhere near booked and there are still rooms available in the block for Thursday-Sunday (we always hold a couple of rooms for early/late arrivals). Diane's direct line is 312.529.1115 if you have any problems with central reservations.

CHSH No. 9 - April 14, 2012

Save the date, book your travel, and reserve your room (click here for scoop on the 'Chicago(ish) Tweetup' group rate at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza), because CHSH Number 9 is official!

The Main Event (RSVP here) is Saturday, April 14th, but we hang out the Friday before and usually host an event or two (including arranging breakfast meetups) on Saturday during the day, too. Watch the upper right of the page as we add new events before we meet again.

If you've never attended a tweetup, particularly one of this size, join us anyway. Here are some helpful tweetup tips. Some of our best friendships have formed when one nervous nerd mustered the courage to hop a plane or take the El over to meet the rest of us. Be nervous. Show up anyway; you'll be welcomed by the organizers and regulars like family. It's just how we are.

CHSH has come to an end yet again and we've all gone back to our everyday lives but we ask you do do us one more favor. Please take a few moments to review the Chicago places you enjoyed on Yelp and mention "the Chicago(ish) Tweetup" in your review. If you don't have a Yelp account, it only takes a minute to sign up and really shows our appreciation to the places that have been so gracious to our little group of weirdos.

CHSH No. 8 Operating Instructions

The August CHSH is a lower-key affair, so the only formal event we host is The Main Event, Saturday night at Mullen's Bar and Grill in Wrigleyville.

However, we spend much of the weekend in the River North neighborhood (where the Holiday Inn is located) or exploring museums or Millennium Park downtown.

FYI, I called Diane Fuentes, our sales rep at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza, and she is going to arrange to have 10 more rooms added to the Chicago(ish) Tweetup block (that's the reference code for the block when you call). They will add more rooms after that as more people reserve rooms.

If you call a couple of weeks from now and reservations says the block is full, please get in touch with Diane Fuentes 312.529.1115 and ask her to open up more rooms. Read more »

Block of Rooms at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza

We have a block of rooms reserved under Chicago(ish) Tweetup. For more information, see the 'Holiday Inn' page. Don't wait too long to reserve your rooms; the cutoff date is March 10th to reserve at the group rate!

We strongly suggest flying in or carpooling, as parking is $36/night and you won't really need a car for any of the activities and events we'll have planned. More on those as we hammer out the details, but right now we're looking at Friday night karaoke at The Blue Frog, since it was such a big hit last time, a trip to the Willis (or do you still say Sears?) Tower Skydeck, a photo walk, and maybe a museum tour. Check out the Public Transit page for deets on getting a prepaid train/bus pass. Read more »

We're just starting to think about what kind of "other" events we're going to be setting up over the course of the tweetup weekend and we'd love your input!

  • Have you done something fun in Chicago and would love to do it again?
  • Always wanted to see/do something?

No suggestion is too unusual! We've got Friday afternoon, Friday evening and Saturday afternoon to fill. As for outdoors activities, average high temp in Chicago for April is 60 degrees and average low is 42. Read more »
