Public Transit

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) consists of two modes: bus and rail.

CTA Bus
The bus system consists of 141 routes. Buses make over 25,000 trips daily, and serve nearly 12,000 bus stops throughout the region. Buses are indicated by number.

CTA Train (The "L")
Parts of the "L" run above ground, in subway tunnels and tubes, as well as at grade or in expressway medians. Train routes are indicated by color. Trains connect to both airports (Midway - Orange line, O'Hare - Blue line). Free transfer between all 'L' routes is available at designated locations (see maps for free transfer locations).

  • From the Holiday Inn to Mullen's - Brown line (Google map) with a 11 minute walk (or cab) to the bar from the Belmont stop.
  • From Mullen's to the Holiday Inn - Brown line again. Last train leaves the Belmont station at 12:45am. After that, take the Red line from Addison to Lake with a 13 minute walk (or cab) to the hotel.

Price/Passes
Single ride fares are $2.25 each way. A 1-Day Fun Pass is $5.75 and a 3-Day Pass is $14.00. Passes can be purchased from CTA Pass Machines, located at both airports or a few stations. Your best bet is to purchase passes online ahead of time - they are activated upon first use and offer unlimited rides.

Park & Ride
If you're driving in, the CTA's Park & Ride may be cheaper than paying for parking in the city. Prices are as low as $4/day!

CTA apps are available for the iPhone, Droid and other phones or use the CTA mobile site - http://www.transitchicago.com/mobile/
